Dates To Remember
Welcome to the 2014-15 School Year!
I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing summer and are excited to start the new school year!
The PTA has been working hard over the summer preparing for an exciting year filled with lots of fun activities. Be sure to mark your calendars with all the upcoming events and meetings.
For those new to Waugh Chapel Elementary, I would like to introduce the PTA Executive Board:
President: Marci Monaldo
The PTA is supported by a great group of parent volunteers and teachers who all work together to help make Waugh Chapel the vibrant and fun community that it is. Please see the list of PTA Committees below and consider volunteering. Together we can make this a fantastic year!

PTA is Introduces the new Boosterathon Fun Run Fundraiser!
Fundraiser to Start in September
The Boosterthon program promotes three specific values during the fun-filled experience: Fitness, Leadership, and Character. Plus, students will be learning five ways to make their community rock with Boosterthon’s character theme Rock’n Town Live, a music festival theme all about community.
The event kicks off with a Pep Rally where the Boosterhon Fun Run team explains the Fun Run, how to collect pledges, and introduces the character lessons. Each day leading up to the Run the students will come together as class teams. They will pick a team name and create a banner. These events are designed so that schools can continue about their learning schedule as normal.
On the day of the event, a course will be set up at the school. Parents are encouraged to come out and cheer the students on. The run will take approximately 30 minutes, and students will run to upbeat, themed music. Most students run between 30 and 35 laps (the run is capped at 35 laps).
PTA Hosts Kindergarten Playdate
Starting Kindergarten is such an amazing journey for both students and parents. There are so many emotions: excitement, anticipation, nervousness, fear, joy, and a little sadness. To help with the transition for both the parents and the new students, the PTA hosted a Kindergarten Playdate in mid-August. Parents and students were invited to the small playground at the school so they could get to know each other. There was a great turn-out for the event. The kids had a lot of fun meeting and playing with new friends, and parents connected with each other and talked about the year ahead. It was a fantastic way to kick-off the school year for our incoming kindergarten families!
The PTA thanks all the parents and volunteers who helped welcome our teachers and staff back with some yummy trail mix! Read more about it on our Facebook page here.
