Hello! I am contacting all of the librarians and PTA/PTO organizations to help spread the word about our Community Discussion Series. The series is for all ages and for all community members. We will have events each year and discussions around one theme which relates to our signature program “Community Development and Global Citizenship”. This current series theme is innovation! Please help me by reading the attached flyer and promoting widely to your students and parents. This is a great way to come together as a community to discuss and interact with topics which lead to our own personal success and the success of our students and children. Our hope is that the community chosen signature theme will spread beyond the four walls of Arundel High School to the feeder schools and back into the community through discussion and sharing of perspectives and ideas.
My principal, Gina Davenport, has e-mailed each principal to let them know about the program and to ask for our information attached to be added to your school newsletter as soon as possible or to be sent out on Connect Ed. It would help us to spread the word if librarians could double check that the flyer gets in the newsletter and possibly touch base with the principal to discuss how your school would like to get involved. In your planning, if you have a desire to have me come read and promote the series or any other way I can help, please let me know. I am open to any way that we can reach students and families of all ages.
PTA and PTO leaders- Would you mind promoting this on your website, if you have one, or at your meetings? I would be happy to come to meetings to talk about the series with parents if you like. Just let me know!
I will be delivering copies of the books that you don’t currently have in your collection as well as a promotional poster to hang by the front office (Middle Schools will receive two to place near another place, such as gym entrance, where community members will see). The books are yours to keep so please add them to your collection and share with your students. The two picture books for elementary schools in the series are especially good for read aloud and class discussion of innovation. I have attached and will also deliver a copy of a black and white flyer that could be included in print newsletters or copied to be distributed to your teachers and to students as you wish.
Thank you for your support for this exciting new program!
